Rockstar has postponed the launch of GTA 6 until November 19, 2026.
Rockstar Games has postponed the GTA 6 release date to November 19, 2026. The studio says on X the delay will give developers extra time to finish the game with the expected level of polish.
“We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.” according to the statement.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick had previously expressed confidence in the original May 2026 release date, stating development was on track and the production phase mostly complete.
The game follows Jason and Lucia, a criminal couple in a Bonnie-and-Clyde-like storyline. After a failed heist, they get caught in a conspiracy in Leonida, a fictional U.S. state resembling Florida.
GTA 6 will launch on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. As of now, there is no official announcement regarding a Windows PC release.
